Dist. Attock ضِلع اٹک‎

A close fight is expected on three National Assembly (NA) and five Provincial Assembly (PA) seats in District Attock between an independent group led by former District Nazim Major Tahir Sadiq (Retd) referred to as Major Group (MG) and the three major political parties namely Pakistan PML-N, Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to political pundits the district's four main 'Baradaris' - Butts, Sardars, Maliks and Sheikhs - are playing a critical role in the politics of the district. According to Shahzad Anjum Butt a senior journalist with a close eye on the political scenario of the district, in the past elections 50 percent votes were cast in this rural area on the basis of political affiliation, 25 percent on the basis of Baradari and 25 percent on issues like provision of civic amenities including roads, schools, healthcare and, of perhaps the greatest relevance, legal support as and when required to the people.
